winter: the season of stuff all your hair in a hat for three months and never feel the need to do laundry
I was raised in a reform Jewish household and haven’t identified as religious in several years. I feel pretty uncomfortable with holiday celebrations for a handful of reasons - the historical inaccuracy, racism, mass murder of animals, consumerism, etc. - but recently, I’ve come to appreciate doing things for myself.
These things aren’t inherent holiday celebrations, but the holiday ~spirit~ (if you will) inspires me to celebrate things like friendship, strength (physical and emotional), beauty, food, art, life on earth, and especially animals (both human and non-human!).
